Tiesto
Red lights
(Fred Falke Remix)
French producer
Tiësto is full of surprises these days. First, the Dutch EDM icon shows up as the secret
guest on a rave cruise headlined by hard-hitting producers Skrillex and Diplo (Holy Ship!!!, of course),
and now he offers up this remix of his new "Red Lights" single by French house DJ Fred Falke, a
man who's worked over songs by Grizzly Bear, U2, La Roux, Lykke Li, and Elton John to name a few.
Each is a bliss-merchant in his own way, but while Tiësto's original derives rapturous results from
candy-coated choruses, big builds, and glistening beats, Falke's takes a grittier approach, cutting
those chiming keys with dark fuzz and downplaying the drop in favor of a constant thump.
"Fred's added a very summery, Balearic vibe to 'Red Lights' and I think it's beautiful,
" Tiësto told SPIN. "I'm thinking of palm trees and the beach while listening to this."
"Red Lights" is the first taste of the man's as-yet untitled 2014 artist album.
